Just finished Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 last night/this morning (might be the fastest I've ever gotten through an anime, haha). Oh man, that was not good for my poor heart. Oh the endless sobbing. That anime really hits hard! But it's definitely earned a spot among my favourite anime. Sooo good for so many different reasons - I really recommend it, but do avoid spoilers, since it's short enough that knowing what happens in advance can kinda kill it for you, I'd imagine.
...
I'm totally going to start crying again if I think about it for too long. Aaaahhh. ( ;´Д`)

Has anyone finished HxH 2011? The last episode JUST aired today... it was such a wild ride. I fell in love with it as much as FMA:B and now both these shows are my absolute favorite (though not better than FMA of course).
Have you heard of this show? Are you watching it? Finished? What do you think?

I just got through Nagi no Asukara, which was my big summer anime for the year. It was definitely better than I expected it to be, and fairly well-written for a typical slice-of-life/love-triangle centered show. It's kind of a great show for people who don't normally like those genres, since it's heavily injected with fantasy and magic as well, and is absolutely gorgeously done. Underwater cities, saltflake snow, night-time festivals out at sea, constant summer atmosphere, rustic port towns - this anime is by far one of the most beautiful and creatively designed I've seen.
I also watched Log Horizon over the summer, which I found decently enjoyable, particularly for its greater reliance on MMO tropes than shows like .hack and SAO.
Now I'm getting through Golden Time, which I'm really really enjoying for its well-written characters and relationships and college (!) setting, and Fooly Cooly, which is... awesome post-modern insanity. Oh! And Sailor Moon Crystal, like everyone else, haha. Annnnd I watched the first of the Persona 3 Movies recently, which was a lot of fun. So much anime!

Fooly Cooly is a sweet show.
I myself personally dislike SAO thus SAO II bores me to death, but I did write a review for it on MAL and I plan on finishing it.
For me: I've watched a lot! Currently watching Gankutsuo, which is an adaptation of the famous book The Count of Monte Cristo which was one of my absolute favorites, over the summer I've watched Aria: The Animation/Natural/Origination, in which I completely recommend! I've also finished watching and reading Soul Eater, which was also extremely nice. Recently finished all of Hunter x Hunter, one of the best shounen below FMA:B. I caught up to Mushishi, the most peaceful anime in the world, with the original, the movies, and the second remake Mushishi Zoku Shou. I will be watching Mushishi Zoku Shou Season 2 that will be airing this October, as well as Cross Ange.
I've gotten really lucky with my anime choices! I'm so happy. Does anyone own a MyAnimeList account?

^ I don't, but I've been contemplating getting one since I've been visiting that site quite a bit. And I know what you mean about feeling lucky with anime choices - sometimes when I go through a string of really boring anime, I start to wonder if maybe I've just outgrown it, and sometimes when I go through a string of really good anime, I start to wonder if I've just lowered my standards... but then, ultimately, it ends up being less a reflection on me and sometimes some anime are just either really good or really bad, haha.
I liked SAO as I was watching it. Now that there's been some distance between myself and the series, I don't think it was that great. It had potential to be great, and to go further than its predecessors (.hack), but it didn't quite get there.

You guys are dropping a bunch of names that are on my radar! I just watched Nagi no Asukara and FLCL as well, actually, and I gave both a 9/10, Nagi-Asu for perhaps the best character development I've ever come across in an anime series, stunning visuals, and an incredible use of setting as an emotional tool, and FLCL for accurately detailing puberty with some pretty clever symbols. I was recommended Gankutsuo, too, so I'm gonna get on that sometime! I've been binging anime these last two months though like it's 2009 again haha. Finished Haiyore! Nyaruko-san, season 1 of Free!, The Eccentric Family, Shin Sekai Yori (which is now my favorite series and I recommend it to everyone), Nabari no Ou, Gurren Lagann, Love Stage!!, and Himegoto. Also watching SAO II as its syndicating. Sai, I totally get what you were saying about SAO, though. It was pretty awesome while watching it, but it didn't really go above and beyond expectations. It was a good anime, but it really wasn't much more than that. Didn't really do anything wrong, but it also didn't do anything amazing. I really feel like the Alfheim arc hurt it, though. Aincrad by itself was fantastic Currently watching Free! Eternal Summer as I try to get over this cold! I actually just got a MyAnimeList: here it is! Also quick question: if any of you watched Symphogear, is it any good at all? I'm three episodes in and put it on hold. Right now it feels like an advertisement to buy character songs, almost as if they spent all this money to afford Nana for the theme song, five insert songs, and voicing one of the main characters, and that's all they really cared about. If I wanted to watch an advertisement for Nana songs circa early 2012, I'd just go watch the "Synchrogazer" PV

hot0rikun967, Symphogear is basically a trainwreck lol. It has little to no substance and basically ran by deux ex machina. Sad to say that Cross Ange will most likely also become another trainwreck just like Kakumeiki Dualism which is really sad to hear. Apparently for those who viewed the first episode already it's simply all fanservice and fanservice.

I don't really understand. Sunrise has all this money, and they've produced some decent to good shows before. Why can't they afford a good script? It feels like most anime Nana has a major part in turn out to be really bad. I mean, I don't mind really because I care much more about her music, but all this hype with like "hey we got Mizuki Nana, come watch this show!" and that's really all the show turns out to be: Nana advertisements. I mean the only real lasting thing that came out of Rosario to Vampire was DISCOTHEQUE, and that's true for people outside the Nana fandom, too e.e

Everything past Code Geass they've produced is honestly... uh not that good. I definitely see Nana as more of a singer than a seiyuu, but I just wish once that maybe Nana could star in an anime that has substance, kind of like how she did Lan Fan in FMA:B. I mean, for Miyano Mamoru he's done roles in great shows like Steins;Gate, Ouran Koukou Host Club, Death Note, Hunter x Hunter, etc, and because of that he's so well known. Why can't Nana get roles with the same feats? It's kind of sad really... but I do expect her role in being a seiyuu diminishing more and more because well, definitely her singing career would become her forte.

I really feel like it could be a marketing thing. Like, I don't know who decides what she voices in, but a lot of these shows really could just be buying Nana for a ratings bump. Shows that are actually really good don't need her star power. I mean, she's at that level. She's huge OUTSIDE of the anime world now, so it's bound to attract some otherwise uninterested viewers. That really stinks, but yeah, it's her singing career that's brought her to the mainstream, and that's really rare for the anison genre. In fact, it hasn't happened before. Haha. That's how rare it is.

Nagi-Asu for perhaps the best character development I've ever come across in an anime series, stunning visuals, and an incredible use of setting as an emotional tool Yes, you totally get it. Really stellar character development (and organically done, too!), and a setting that really boosted the emotional impact of everything that happened. It's kind of the best slice of life anime for people who don't like slice of life - it has enough fantasy and world-building in it that you can get invested in that too, but then has these awesome characters being put through really fascinating situations. Episode 13 onwards was just a fantastic exploration of the cast. Ugh, Chisaki. All my feels for Chisaki. Aincrad by itself was fantastic Yup yup. It was entertaining and pretty, but by Alfheim it just devolved into a typical shounen anime with all the usual dealbreakers (Overpowered protagonist, hammy villain, female lead reduced to damsel in distress, male lead is the object of every female's affection, etc.). Aincrad had some really poignant moments, but I feel like the anime as a whole left so much to be desired. Like, come on, It's an MMO world! There's so much to explore there in terms of technology, sociology, psychology, etc., so much commentary to be made on escapism, modernization, communication, etc., and yet a lot of that was chucked away in favour of lone wolf MC stabbing things repeatedly and breaking the game. Sigh. Log Horizon is a bit better about it. I feel like it never forgets its MMO roots and there's a lot more to relate to if you're an MMORPG player. It occasionally gets a bit hackneyed, but everything is built up to, sometimes subtly, so it's hard to flat-out call its twists deus-ex-machinas. Why can't they afford a good script? It feels like most anime Nana has a major part in turn out to be really bad. You know what, I've wondered the same thing. Everything past Code Geass they've produced is honestly... uh not that good. I definitely see Nana as more of a singer than a seiyuu, but I just wish once that maybe Nana could star in an anime that has substance, kind of like how she did Lan Fan in FMA:B. It seems like we all share a similar train of thought, and I'm kind of glad this is being voiced now, haha I'm glad I'm not the only one who's been a little frustrated with where Nana's ended up in the anime world. I love Nana, I really do, but it pains me that none of my favourite anime or games (barring maybe Tales of Symphonia) have had her name attached to them.

ehhh...Cross Ange will be likely a trainwreck? i would say half half, due Mishi-P is part of the team (like Nanoha) so it maybe good as Nanoha, you never know ~>.<~........
but i think why Nana is getting less voice acting on anime n games and more on narration for 2013 to now, likely her team is focus on the oversea live, Live Acoustic (2014.09.30 blog said they already start the project) etc......she is more busy than she use to be ~.~....
i wonder if they going to plan another oversea for next yr, since 3 main animes she going voice (e.g. Symphogear S3, Dog Days'', Nanoha 3rd movie, Nanoha ViVid)

I'm just looking at the previews as well as reviews of the first episode for Cross Ange and it screams that direction of fanservice. May I just say I strongly agree with everything you guys have said about SAO. I've watched it and wondered so much why do people even like it. Oh right, it's an anime with wish fulfillment. Kirito embodies the wishful resemblance of all (loser) gamers out there with antisocial skills and less than hope for prosperity throughout. He plays games, get's all the girls but somehow has no antisocial skills, and everything just goes his way cause, well screw it, he's Kirito! I'd like to rank more about SAO but it's nothing you guys haven't said already heh. Watching Nichijou atm! Also hot0rikun967 I sent you a request on MAL. ^^
