I'm really interested in whatever she's planning for a new album! I must say I was pretty sad when I heard about the divorce. If they had of dated for a while longer before getting married it would have just led to a break-up and it wouldn't be so hard.

Pretty much agree with teddy over the divorce. Not much I can say on it really as everything has kinda been gone over 1000 times within the fandom. I guess I'm disappointed mostly, simply because she's fallen prey to what she was criticised for. Obvs, not her fault, but it's still sad. I'm not that excited for the new album, not a hug fan of the previews personally. I'm still all over Love Songs. FIVE? What is FIVE?

I KNEW this was going to be the first thread in this area of the forum, I just knew it haha Anyways, I'm excited for her new album. The divorce in the end is a private thing we don't even know much about so I just hope they both walk out of it happier in the end and it may inspire her music.

Her divorce was a very big shock and has caused almost as much of a whirlwind as her sudden marriage, but in the end it really is her decision. I also have to agree with teddy here, maybe it would've been easier on her, both emotionally and everybody else freak-out wise (thought the latter is debatable), if she had maybe dated him for an extended period rather than married him. In the end though, I guess she did what made her happy and even if it did regrettably end this way, at least she was happy with him for awhile. As for the new album, I'm actually really excited (though I usually always am for Ayu~). Love Songs was awesome and FIVE (though I sometimes forget it was a mini-album ) had a spectacular set of songs that were beautiful. BRILLANTE I say! BRILLANTE!

I KNEW this was going to be the first thread in this area of the forum, I just knew it haha I guess it makes sense since a majority of us here were Ayu fans originally XD I guess I'm disappointed mostly, simply because she's fallen prey to what she was criticised for. Obvs, not her fault, but it's still sad. And this pretty much sums up my sentiments. I really wish they had been able to prove everyone who expected it to happen wrong. As for new songs, I haven't heard Hbya yet, but I adore Party queen ;D It's kind of mindless, but just so much fun to listen to, and has such a strong 80s vibe. It's catchy and bright and happy, which... honestly I feel like we haven't gotten from Ayu in a long time. Not on FIVE, definitely not on Love songs, yeah... Plus the performance was way too fun. Loving it.

I love how even in her most mindless songs(and from what I can tell from the lyrics Party Queen is her MOST mindless song) she tries to give us something entirely new. Party Queen mixes chiptune, dubstep, 80s disco and cutesy pop in a way that I have certainly never heard before.
And how beautiful you are, a generic piano ballad to many people it seems, has something unusual as well since it has a very western melody while her songs usually have typically asian melodies. And the gospel element, I don't know if it will be in the studio version, is quite different from the ones she had before as well.

I can't wait to hear How beautiful you are! Do you happen to have the Party Queen lyrics by chance? I tried searching for them briefly but couldn't find em.

I think the translated lyrics may be on AHS but I haven't looked for them. The "we need a drink", "I am the party queeeeeeeeen", "saturday night", "sekai wa kirakira" stuff led me to believe it's probably her most stupid lyrics to date haha Not that that's bad since she hasn't really had stupid lyrics before.

The translated lyrics are on AHS, here's an excerpt:
I...just love that line haha A completely different Ayu.

Yeahhhh... I read them. Haha...ha. I can't say I'm surprised, given how the song sounds, but then again Ayu's managed to pull some major lyrical dissonance before, so yeah... HONEY comes to mind, or rollin', etc. But wow, those are... very Kuu-esque. As you said, they're her only really mindless lyrics (though Lady Dynamite was nearly there) so it's not a huge deal, it's just a bit jarring to remind yourself that these were penned by the same person who wrote things like Duty, Last angel, or BRILLANTE ;D

Party girl lyrics are way better than the song. Guessing this will be the flat party in Hackney PV?
I love how people are trying to find something deep in them, girl is just having fun here!

I'm definitely liking Timmy's compositions so far. Haven't heard Hbya yet, but both BRILLANTE and Party Queen were really top notch. I really want more of him in the future! I mean, I'm not saying she should pull a Love songs and record an entire album of him, but y'know xD

I didn't like BRILLANTE at all. Not liking the sound of Party Queen or HBYA either.

I can really see Timmy's compositions polarizing Ayumi fans. They all feature highly western melodies opposed to her usual very asian ones, it's obvious from all of them he is highly influenced by having been in a choir for many years and his arrangements are rather unique. They mix aspects not expected. Like the disco/8bit/dubstep/cutesy aspect in Party Queen. So yeah, you either love it or hate it, but at the very least it's different from anything she had before, coming closest to (miss)understood in the melody + choir/gospel area.
