Oh, do I? Maybe I'm just avoiding unnecessarily generalization? People has so bad eyesight while using Occam's razor lately... Different words and terms exist for a reason and calling everything with couple of them is not a good idea, since even by using concrete definitions it's hard to run from long explanations... As for fans... "Fan" is a short version of the word "fanatic". I see the main difference in them in fanatic being intolerant to everything apart from object of his fanaticism in the same field while fan being more reserved and only react to direct attack at the object of his obsession. In terms of love to their chosen object of fanaticism they are alike - it is obsession. They talk about it, they think about it, basically they can't imagine their lives without it. Now the word "fan" is overused and applied to pretty much anyone who likes smth. Which is incorrect. The fact that many people do so doesn't make it correct. Actually, it does. Once the majority start thinking something is correct, it's becoming correct even if it wasn't so beforehand. But do you really like such a tendency? I certainly do not... We had some recent precedents in Russian language not so long ago... When some incorrect grammar forms suddenly became correct because "most ppl says so anyway". So teachers in schools started saying smth like "It's correct now and I won't lower the mark, but actually it's incorrect and never say so!" What a stupidity... So all in all don't overly expand the meanings of words from their original meanings, it makes things harder to understand and allows ppl to think less about what they speak.

Except a language is something that is in constant flux. Why do you think we print new dictionaries so often? Language is not 100% set in stone - grammar rules, maybe, but otherwise - things change, meanings evolve, etc. Personally I think it's more stupid to sit on archaic definitions than to adapt to modern understandings. In some cases the tendency is ridiculous, I'll give you that, but with words like 'fan' and, ugh, especially your archaic definition of 'sexy'... yeah, adaptation is good. And necessary. In my opinion.

haksawI can sort of understand where you're coming from. That's also true for me, because I really like HP when I was younger but I can't bring myself to call myself a "fan". However, I proclaim myself as a Nana fangirl ^^;; simply because that's the only explanation I have for this kind of phenomena that's been happening to me for a while now. No need to overanalyse things such as definitions of a fan and such. lol I got excited by the etabure comment. You made it sound like it's even more crazier on the scene than what's shown.XDDD

I will never agree to this. Adaptation is never good for an individual. You see, when an organism getting in an unusual environment, it has two ways of surviving - either change that environment to suit its needs or adapt to it, changing itself. So adapting is always changing yourself by influence of external environment. And that's not good in my opinion. You should change only by your own will. Sometimes you have no choice but to adapt to something, but chasing it intentionally is strange. And necessary... For what? So good for you, no one says it's a bad thing Why not? Every discussion should start from agreeing on definitions.

Fan originated from fanatic, but nobody means that when they say it. It evolved. Doesn't the word fanatic still exist? So based on your argument of using the correct word, we should use fan for someone who likes something a lot, and fanatic for somebody who is totally crazy about it. Also oxforddictionaries.com/definition/fan--2 if in doubt, OD is right. It isn't an abbreviation any more. There are thousands of examples of words that had one meaning and have changed. Words originate as extremes, but their adoption into everyday language gives them a new definition, and new extremes have to be invented in their place.

It did not. I doubt it actually ever meant fanatic. These words have different meanings. I already stated my view on the difference - they both crazy about something, just fan doesn't want to burn everything else like fanatic. For example HP fans dress in robes and attend some creepy gatherings while people who like it a lot just read books... and like them a lot HP fanatics... Do they exist? =) Though "football fans" are actually not fans but clear fanatics. Real football fans just go to the matches and discuss football with friends. Those who like football just watch it on TV and that's it.

Hello everyone,
I'm currently 20 years old and living in Los Angeles. I discovered Nana while playing the mouse rhythm game osu! a few years ago. I spent a lot of time playing the beatmaps for Justice to Believe and Shin Ai. At around the same time, I also found the song Secret Ambition through a youtube video.
The song Mugen is particularly special to me because it was the first single I waited in anticipation for her to release as a fan. Needless to say, it delivered beyond my expectations. I then dove deeper into her discography and was impressed at how many different styles of music she could sing to. I don't think I'll ever get tired of hearing her voice.
I am in the process of planning a sacred pilgrimage to Japan to see Mizuki Nana perform live. I whole-heartedly believe that it is my sworn duty as a Nanatard to spend thousands of dollars on plane tickets, concert tickets, and a countless variety of Nana related goods and merchandise.
In order to acquire adequate funding for my trip, I am pursuing a career in high finance. By conservative projections, I should have enough discretionary wealth by the time I'm 24~25. I plan on having a big enough budget to cover a few months of living expenses in Japan while traveling around the country to attend as many of her concerts as I can. I will also be learning Japanese through self-study over the next few years so I can make the most out of the experience. My only desire is that Nana has not retired by then.
To all my fellow Nana fans out there: I wish you success in your endeavors, drawing inspiration from Nana's work ethic and musical talent. Allow her music to fuel your ambitious pursuits and motivate you to overcome any obstacles you may face.

Definitely an awesome intro!!! I kind of feel like doing an Introduction, although i kind of secretly slipped into this community long ago!!!
I think ive already spilled my guts over the whole "tenkuu no canaria first song" story so... Just gonna say that i 2 plan on spending tons of well earned money to go to a nana mizuki concert sometime in my life and also pray that she has not retired... which knowing how Hikki did that to us, could be any time, although i still think that she has only hit her prime as a singer (and still not as seiyuu... imo!!! just saying!) as of the last few years, she cant stop until she gets as famous as she deserves! which is #1 haha xD
Oh and my favorite Nana Song... gosh X_X i can NEVER decide on 1.. Currently its Metro Baroque because... as ive said other places i just cant stop listening to it. I occassionally go on Nana Binges and have her songs categorized by what they mean to me (hardcore "fan" right? lol no but i do this with every artist on my ipod so its not that crazy in my mind xD) id say a "favorite" song is one that is 50% musically good, 50% lyrically, lyrically its Ray of change, but thats far from being my favorite over all... ill go with Phantom Minds right now, but that will change tmrw probably....
Peace <3

Hello! I'm from Singapore, a little country in south east asia I got to know Nana from watching Nanoha and was instantly captivated by her voice in Innocent Starter. Eternal Blaze and Secret Ambition did nothing to change my interest in her. But I was kinda lazy to search for more songs from Nana and only stuck with the ones she sung for the Nanoha series. But recently, in the past year or so, I suddenly gotten very interested in her again after giving Eternal Blaze a good, long listen, and started to look for more of her songs , then I stumbled upon this forum a few hours ago today. My favorite songs by Nana includes Eternal Blaze Super Generation Chronicle of Sky Shin Ai Not in any particular order
