I'm always such a liar each time when I say I'm not going to listen to any more previews. The small preview on both CDTV and on her YouTube channel of Kimi Yo Sakebe were dissapointing, but the most interesting parts aren't even in there. A little bit of it was shown in the Smile Gang preview. The intro and the couplets will probably be the strongest parts of this song. The refrain is very plain. I would easily describe the song as the little brother of NEXT ARCADIA and VIRGIN CODE that's trying to be cool. The refrain would be in the same category as Nana's other trademark songs like Chinmoku No Kajitsu, etc. Small preview of Please Download also was very... mediocre and I was put of almost directly with her digital voice. Turns out, the quality of that preview was ear straining to begin with so ofcourse I would be. Full version was released on M No Sekai today, listened to almost half of it. Song length is a surprising 4:36! And the intro was suprising! And gosh am I glad that this song isn't constantly high pitched. It has low casual parts as well, yay! I mean it still has the digitalized voice (Nana, your voice is great without all the edit bullshit and yes I know it's supposed to be part of this song's theme but... ) but it doesn't hurt my ears; so it doesn't bother me. I can say I like this song already. Not a fan favorite (yet, or maybe that won't even happen), but I just really like it's uniqueness. I'd put it next to The NEW STAR (this is meant positively).

Nope, still terrible. These sort of effects are a horrible trend these days, but this is very much on the top of pro tool abuse.

Is this kind of deliberate use even a trend anymore? The only time I ever hear anything like this blatantly is in music specifically made like this... some kinds of techno music for example. Capsule comes to mind, but its nowhere close to that level of effect... even from their early years. (Also they've become much more "avant-garde" in a minimalistic way in the last few years)

sevenpetals Yay yay! I am so excited... but I'm not gonna listen until my copy arrives... I think. I might just spoil myself with 1 song, but I'm not sure what to go for yet... Either way my package has been shipped yesterday (Monday), so if things go well it will be sent out by plane today and arrive in The Netherlands on Thursday, which means if I'm lucky I'll get it on either Friday or Saturday. Sad I'm receiving it later, as I received SA on the release day itself. Guess I was just lucky back then! Under the spoiler, there's info about the new songs ( amelala did her stalker research on Twitter x3) Meguri Au Subete Ni is a rock ballad. JEWEL is an 'R&B' styled ballad. I mean... what? If this is going to be as 'R&B' as The NEW STAR, it's not gonna be much R&B, lol. But it might still be good, as The NEW STAR was entertaining. Hatsukoi seems not to be the generic album ballad number 4! Instead, it's a Japanese styled song?! Hopefully a combination of Etsuraku+Junketsu, but that's just me.

Listening to the album now~ I've been totally out of the loop since the announcement so it's all new to me, right down to how many songs etc... ooops. I'll be back soon guys (and on Skype too!!), promise!
I'm at Rock Ride Riot, and so far Meguri au subete ni is the standout. STAND UP! has some great ideas, but just doesn't work as a whole song for me. I do not like Please Download, that was an unpleasant surprise...
I am comfortably neutral towards it right now.

I'm listening right now! Wonder how "ballad" heavy this album really is Meguri au subete ni is really wonderful melodically and vocally, I quite like it I'm glad they didn't make this as grandiose as Avalon no Oukan and Virgin Code and Glorious Break, its different. Ah man, I LOVE Please Download in its full. Those verses are smooth and sweet and so is the pre-chorus actually quite appreciate the cheesy vocal production. Somehow it reminds me a bit of SOUND OF DESTINY (a character song/cover from White Album)

A few of us all listened together in the skype group together about 9 hours ago, it was a fun experience! Anyways, I feel like the first half of the album is by far superior to the last half. I'll post a ranking/rating once I digest it a little more.

Im not sure how I feel about which half is better actually. I think AA TT and RRR are all the most generic songs on the album (other than Starting Now, which Is my least favorite Nana A-Side of all time, lol)
Standouts on First Listen: Meguri Au Subete Ni STAND UP! Please Download Hatsukoi JEWEL UNLIMITED BEAT WAKE UP THE SOULS Rodeo Cowgirl Zettaiteki Koufukuron
Songs I would definitely skip as of now (I'll give the whole album a listen again later) STARTING NOW! That's it lol. I didn't hate anything else. Kimi yo Sakebe was kind of meh to me, at least the first 3/4ths of the song Overall I'm very impressed with the ballads on this album. Zettai... Meguri au and JEWEL are all VERY different but all 3 are amongst my favorites on the album. I usually find the obligatory 1-2 ballads generic on Nana Albums but these are all great. Zettaiteki Koufukuron is just so passionate, I really feel it. Especially towards the end when the melody kind of changes, and the "aishiteru" over and over again. It's great.

Man, full album preview. I kind of like the whole atmosphere of the album. I really can't wait for the album to be in my hands so I can listen to the songs in full. ALONE ARROWS, TWIST&TIGER, and Rock Ride Riot sounded good from the preview. Hatsukoi was a surprise, and I love the Japanese style. GLORIA sounded good but I can't tell until I hear it in full. JEWEL and WAKE UP THE SOULS seemed very neutral for me. Every time I listen to STAND UP!, I start to like it more and more. Good work Nana!

I'm not sure why they waited so long to put up that preview video. Her hardcore fans in Japan already have their hands on the album lol
Anyways, here's my preliminary rankings based on about 5 listens to the album. A rank = incredible B rank = above average C rank = average D rank = below average F rank = atrocious
A rank: めぐり逢うすべてに/meguriau subete ni ALONE ARROWS TWIST&TIGER はつ恋/hatsukoi (upgraded, previously A-/B+)
A-/B+ rank: 君よ叫べ/kimi yo sakube
B rank: UNLIMITED BEAT RODEO COWGIRL Rock Ride Riot (upgraded, previously B-/C+) STAND UP! (upgraded, previously B-/C+)
B-/C+ rank: JEWEL Please Download (upgraded, previously C-/D+)
C rank: -
C-/D+ rank: GLORIA (downgraded, previously C) 絶対的幸福論/Zettaiteki Kofukuron STARTING NOW! WAKE UP THE SOULS
I had a hard time placing the lower ranking tracks. Some of them could move up over time. WAKE UP THE SOULS went nowhere, so for the moment, that's probably at the very bottom. Though honestly, I have no issue listening all the way through without skipping anything.
EDIT: I updated the rankings. This ranking should stay like this for a long time, as I've driven to the album now for a while.

Man, our tastes are so different on this album already. I would put Please Download and Wake up the souls in at least an A-/B+ range, lol
