To be honest, I don't think the arrangement is messy, but it's not exactly a really great part of the song that stands out either. It could had definitely been better and improved.
Though, now that I've listened to the song a lot of times, I've begun to grow to the song, especially near the end, which I still think is the best part of the song. However, I still feel like it can't compare to Vitalization and Synchrogazer. Likewise, I'm still finding a difficult time finding merit in the song past Nana's vocals and the euphonious melody, because composition and arrangement just could had been so much better than what we have right now.

I'm not a huge fan based on first listen. The song is pretty messy and the arrangement doesn't help. I also don't like how it sounds really happy and poppy at some points (1:00 mainly) and then sad/angry at others. I do like the chorus. I also like the beginning of the song too. I wouldn't call this having more of an orchestral arrangement or compare it to Avalon no Oukan. That one had a full orchestra. This one seems to have violins (?? can't tell it is too LQ), but that's typical of E.G. arrangements. Why do you think it sounds more Orchestral than say, Eternal Blaze or Kindan no Resistance or its sister song Vitalization, Tokyo88? I think I'll like it more once the better quality version is out. I know I'm not Tokyo88, but I also agreed in that I think the actual composition and orchestration is done in a more "orchestral" manner. In fact, the brass that stands out are one of the highlights of the song imo. It adds a lot of drama to the song. I think Vitalization and Synchrogazer, while also a bit orchestral, were a lot more electronic. It's what I wanted to say ! I don't compare EXTERMINATE to Avalon no Oukan I said it's like an electronic version of this song ! Lately a lot of anime songs have this kind of messy feelings ! I don't know why maybe the composers tries to be innovative etc... but I already observed it with other anison singers since 2/3 years ! Though I have no problem with this song but the thing is that's the 3rd song for the same anime and it's quite difficult to stay true to the serie while adding something new ... the same problem goes for DOG DAYS Fearless Hero & NO LIMIT pale in comparison next to SCARLET KNIGHT ! That's the reason why I'm happy when she works for a new anime because I know the style will be different but in the case of EXTERMINATE, surprisingly I really like it and tbh I don't care if Synchrogazer or Vitalization are better because for me the gap is very small in term of quality I just want to enjoy the song =)

The cover is so pretty <3 I like it, but I can't help comparing it....! It does feel like it's own song though, Vitalization did really feel like Synchro part II. I guess that's the problem when you end up with a series like Nana has here though. I really like the intro though, I don't think it needed to be more powerful. It fits with the overall feel of the song I think. This is how I feel. "Vitalization" bored me upon the first few listens, and although I still enjoy it, I don't find myself selecting it for listen. "Exterminate" has something different, at least when compared with the other two Symphogear songs--that being more of an emphasis on traditional instruments (the brass and strings) than synthesizers as was the case in "Synchrogazer" and "Vitalization". I also felt that the opening was a nice nod to the series and the character songs Nana has done for it. "Exterminate" sounds like an A-side for a single that might include "Zettou Ameno no Habakiri" and "Gekkou no Ken", and I appreciate that. Although on first listen I felt the arrangement was uncomfortably compartmentalized, but that feeling subsided quickly as it has with many of Nana's recent A-sides. I'm actually more excited about this single than I have been since "TIME-SPACE EP", actually. Not since "METRO BAROQUE". So, I'm pretty darn happy with this.

^ I can't speak for anyone else, but I didn't mean 'messy' to mean low-quality or grainy, just that the song is doing a lot of little, different things that don't always flow well into each other. I have no doubt that it'll be less "noisy" in HQ. After a few listens, this song has grown on me absurdly quickly! I agree with sevenpetals that the brass is used really dramatically, and it gives the song an interesting militaristic sound that I really like it. Please let the PV have more of Nana in army-esque outfits Also, nice to see ya again, hotorikun! Yeah, I apologize, I meant like it is inconsistent or disjoint at times. It's kinda like a roller-coaster ride lol, except one where you do NOT see where you are going next. Not messy in terms of arrangement (I can't tell since it is too LQ). Even if they "cram too many things in" (which I admit, they do a lot), for some reason, I don't mind it. Even Eden was guilty of having a very "busy" arrangement, but I still fell in love anyways! I'm sure I'll like it more once the HQ is out. thanks to sevenpetals pointing out the brass, I didn't even notice it the first time! I'll obviously like this a lot more.

So CDJapan is finally having tokutens for Nana's stuff, eh? That's good news. I really like her smile in the CDJapan tokuten, so I'm going with that. EDIT: While going on CDJapan, I noticed that there isn't the CD slip case written as part of the first press bonus ( )

VívaceThere is line in description on nanaparty: 初回製造盤: 特製カラーケース. I can translate as: first press in color case. For example as Shinai (in white).

I'll send them an E-mail just to make sure, since I'm getting it from CDJapan too. They even still have first press of Eden lol
