That FMA song was actually quite catchy (and the video was adorable). The Madoka Magica soundtrack is crazy good, just like the anime itself. Sis Puella Magica and Credens Justitiam are my favourite tracks! But the whole OST has a really beautiful feel to it.
I've been replaying Final Fantasy 6 (favourite game of all time, just fyi~) and it really is just the perfect OST. Every track has its place, and is memorable enough that I can recall whatever scene was playing out when I hear any given track from the OST (though this may be because I've played through it like 30 times hahah). I don't think I can say that for any FF game that followed it. Nobuo was seriously in his prime.
This track always gets me. I just love the way the music swells at the beginning, and its timing in the game is so perfect - it's such a turning point in the story, the first time the characters feel like they have a chance. Yet it's still really melancholic, reflecting just how high the odds are stacked against them. It's not overtly triumphant; it's reluctantly hopeful, and just so spot-on for the tone the game takes on at that point in the story.

FFVI's soundtrack is iconic! Terra's theme, Celes' theme... and then Dancing Mad to top it all off.
FFVIII has my favourite FF soundtrack. It's far from my favourite game in the franchise, but the soundtrack is absolutely gorgeous, especially the arranged CD. Poor FFVIII, it could have been so good, but it just didn't quite get there. The world/concept is great, it's just a shame that the cast is... yeah. The party get tossed aside after Trabia and when you start to like Squall just a little, it all gets turned into the awful Squall/Rinoa romance. Some individual moments are really powerful, it just... never really adds up. :/
I can't pick one, so have the Ending Theme. Eyes on Me + a medley. It's also got an FFIX sneak peek in it, what could make it better?!

Faye Wong is one of my favorite singers and it's all thanks to that gorgeous soundtrack. I'm love/hate when it comes to ballads, but Eyes on Me I fell in love with instantly. And the English...Koda/Ayu/Namie and the like should take note!

Re: Faye Wong: Eyes on Me is one of my all-time favourite ballads. It's just amazing and special and heartwarming all in one go. I've tried to get into her music but I honestly haven't found anything on the level of Eyes on Me (or anything even close). And yes, the FFIX snippet! I only picked up on that yeeears later, haha. Fun fact, on the topic of FFVIII's butchered story: since my childhood until... 2011/2012 or so, I had only ever played through Disc 1 and never past that. Almost immediately into Disc 2, the plot just goes nuts (fueling all those 'Squall is Dead!!!' theories ), but since my only impression of the game for so long was only Disc 1, which was, imo, fantastic and much more coherent than whatever came after it, I defended its honor tirelessly and could not understand why people would give FFVIII so much flak! But then I played through the whole game and... yeah. It makes sense now. That game gets cray. But I say that affectionately. Anyway! I just beat Ni no Kuni, so I've been indulging in its gorgeous OST (composed by Joe Hisaishi and performed by the Tokyo Philharmonic! Whooo!) This is one of the most epic World Map themes I feel like I've heard in years. I mean, that's partially because world maps haven't been a part of RPGs in years, but this is also just awesome. While being completely different, it evokes - for me, anyway - memories of wandering the FF6 world map with the awesome Terra's theme playing. They have different melodies, but they have a similar build-up and feeling of grandeur to them, which just solidifies Ni no Kuni's hallmark of being a wonderful throwback to the classic JRPG.

^ Only Love Strangers is an amazing album! I found it hard to get into her music though, mainly because Eyes on Me is wrapped up with FFVIII and I wanted all her songs to have that immediate emotional link. I have so many feelings on FFVIII's plot, I won't bore you with them. But, I will say, the potential that game had, the ideas, the female villains! So much wasted. Plus, I love how you really hate Squall, then grow to like/understand him... but hate that as soon as he becomes likeable it all gets thrown into the Rinoa love story! And she's... really boring. Really really boring. All of the Eyes on Me love comes from Laguna. (The best part of FFVIII!) That track from Ni no Kuni is amazing!! It's so classic RPG but you can feel the Ghibli magic in there too. <3 It's reminding me of so many different RPG tracks (most of which are old, or intentionally throwback), but it has it's own identity two. It's great. I've not played Ni no Kuni either, so I'm really impressed because most of the time I find it hard to connect to an OST if I've not played the game. (Half the joy/fun in the tracks is remembering the level, the plot etc... for me)
