Let's share some music! Post a track from a VG/Anime OST that you really like so we can all have a listen. I considered making this thread for songs in general, but there's something about OST tracks that are just easier to give a casual listen to, I find. Don't forget, you can embed YT videos with the [ youtube ] [/ youtube ] tags. I've been really obsessed with a number of tracks from Lightning Returns! (And the game itself, heh heh.) This one is by far one of my favourites though - it's so peaceful, and really atmospheric when you're riding around the Wildlands just as the sun is setting

That was beautiful, Sai. Wow. Yeah, listening to instrumental music, (usually it is from video game OST's) help inspire a lot of the writing I do. Here's my contribution.
From my favorite of Zelda games, the end credits theme is actually one of my favorite songs of all time period. Makes me cry sometimes just for missing childhood and for inspiring my adventurous side in my writing.

I think Wind Waker's my favourite Zelda, too. I've never been able to quite pin down which one I like above all the rest. But regardless, the game has some beautiful tracks! I love the end credits theme.
Ahhh, this song. I'm not a huge fan of Motoi Sakuraba, but his work on both Baten Kaitos games has been incredibly on point. There's so much sadness and atmosphere to them. The track that I posted, for example? That's the World Map theme to Baten Kaitos Origins. You honestly wouldn't be able to tell otherwise, though! It's so lonely and haunting. When I first heard this track in the game I had to put down my controller and just sit in the dark and listen to it, haha. It's so gorgeous.

Wind Waker had such a beautiful soundtrack. <3 I might replay it.
Oooh, Sai thank you for posting that. I've not played any of the Baten Kaitos games, but I have to say, I've judged Motoi Sakuraba rather unfairly. I've not been fond of his work really, mainly because I feel so indifferent to the Tales of Symphonia soundtrack (I'm annoyed that such a great game had a soundtrack that left me so... eh).
Anyway, here is a favourite - it's a classic! However, I think this is the *best* version. FFXII is severely underrated in my opinion. Gorgeous game, great atmospheric soundtrack, and one of the best (and more unique) casts.
The way the theme of FFXII plays over the opening and then bursts into this, I nearly cried the first time. Then going into the opening itself... first game to make me cry before it even starts!

XII always had my least favourite soundtrack, to be honest! But I cannot hate on that theme, of course, and the arrangement really is beautiful. The best part of XII for me was the setting (and by extension, the atmosphere). They did a crazy good job bringing Ivalice to life, especially for a world that had only been seen in tactics RPGs (and Vagrant Story, I think) until then! Chiptune time!! It's probably because of the new TwitchPlaysPokemon session, but I've rediscovered one of my favourite tracks from the Pokemon series. Ecruteak City from Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal! And while I actually like this version a little bit less, here's the rearrangement from the HGSS remakes: youtu.be/Pli72uTh0mU

I've always liked that one too! Tales battle themes are more miss than hit for me, unfortunately, but that one's pretty catchy.
I'm nearing the end of Persona 3: FES, so I've been hearing a lot of this awesome piece:
Again, really atmospheric, and sums up the melancholic-yet-hopeful nature of the final chapter. I love it.

Ahhh Persona 3 was so good, I'm still not over it and it's been... 5 or 6 years? P4 improved the tedious gameplay issues but everything else was superior in 3. I think Innocent Sin (I've not actually played Eternal Punishment yet) wins though, even if it's a much more traditional RPG. The first game's plot is insane too, but I played the original version and oh my god it has aged TERRIBLY.
The theme song in P3 is so good, I always like a good leitmotif in game soundtracks. It was so weird when the vocalist was Ayu's back-up singer for a while.
Anyway, the song used for P2 was by hitomi. I love hitomi, so here it is.

^ Hahah, finding out the Peco-replacement woman (never bothered to learn her name since she just wasn't worthy! Yes, I'm still bitter about Peco's departure!) was the singer of the P3 theme blew my mind.
I'm on the final boss of P3 and it's just... insanity. THIRTEEN forms?! A reflective shield that automatically kills you if you attack it? A final desperation attack that can inflict any status ailment on your party members, including Charm, which makes them heal the final boss back to full health?! THIRTEEN FORMS?!?!. Seriously one of the most insane RPG bosses I've encountered. I've already tried five times and have gotten so close that one more hit would win it for me, but then I just get murdered. Asdhkhgksl.
Anyway! That song is so nostalgic. I was super into hitomi around the time of InuYasha, and her more acoustic/soft rock-ish type songs were always my favourite. I may have to go find this a download for this one.
In celebration of it starting to actually feel like spring, I'll post one of the handful of songs I actually like from the XII soundtrack! There's something fairly magical about it, and it gives me such spring~summer vibes.

If you guys haven't watch Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood yet,or even if you did, maybe you'd be interested in this ending song I found really catchy. Well, I'm a sucker for music with folk in it, haha.
Nana plays a character in this series called Lan Fan; too bad it's a pretty small role, but I still enjoyed this!

^ Vívace, Haven't seen brotherhood yet, but somehow I've heard that song before. On that note: you should check out Nana's character songs for Lan Fan, "Karakaze" and "Sotto, Sotto". The latter has that folk element you might like :3

i LOVE brotherhood.. SO much better than the first series... and Lan fan is not that small of a role imo, shes one of my favorite characters haha and so much better music. I find that unlike female artists, i generally only like the vocals of males who sing anime openings. Many japanese guy singers have irritating voices to me... Especially in the visual-kei - rock category. Sorakaze and Sotto, Sotto are so emotional.

Karakaze and Sotto, sotto, were really neat! I liked them! Haha, I never realized before they had character songs released for FMAB.
I also agree Brotherhood is much better and less dragged than the original 2003 anime. However, I liked Nana's voice acting in the 2003 anime as Wrath better. Maybe it's cause she talks more there? Hmm well, I always have a soft spot for children crying for mama. ;-;
2003 was a lot, lot, darker though, imo.

Been watching Madoka Magica since I've been recommended it from a friend who liked Lyrical Nanoha. And I'm in love with this OST... magic to my ears *--* I'll have to admit I really was reluctant on watching the anime cause I really don't like mahou shoujo stuff but this tricked me big time hahaha... it's really dark. Video script not working so here's the link: www.youtube.com/watch/?v=CKtfwubz9OY
