So... Who is DYING for this to happen this July or whatever Its going to be streamed on nico nico douga... so i hope ill be able to watch it with my measly account, lol. Last week a 20th anniversary tribute album was released and it made me realize just how amazing Nana's voice would've been on "Moonlight Densetsu" as the opening Morning Musume kind of suck at singing and try to add too much cute inflection into everything and it ends up sounding nasally and forced..... Just my opinion xD dont hate me for disliking them! Nana would've killed this song though!! Anyway SAILOR MOON!

Wasn't it Momoiro Clover who sang Moonlight Densetsu? Not Momusu, who, though I agree are nasal, are leagues ahead of Momoiro in terms of singing XD And yes, Nana would've done amazingly with it.
Also, just gonna move this to the Anime/Videogames section!

Derp, yeah it was momoiro clover Z, not Musume I just cant stand listening to Momoiro Clover Z sing Moonlight Densetsu. There are certain japanese artists that i listen to specifically for their cute voices, but.. momoiro clover Z sounds so generic and forced. Artists like Yui Horie actually have unique voices... they just happen to be high pitched and cute. I got into her after her collab with Nana @ Animelo ~ rainbow like 2 years ago. She has a distinct voice and her music is really cute, but she can actually kinda sing live like nana can, it doesnt bother me. She pronounces words so clearly and has kind of a bold tone. Its hard to explain, but i dont think shes forcing her voice to be overly cute, or if she is it sounds good and works for her xD Ive never even heard Morning Musume tbh xD im uncultured!

If you were to listen to Morning Musume, I'd suggest listening to anything of theirs pre-2011. Seriously, this new line-up can't sing sans Sakura and Mizuki, and this electronica sound Tsunku is going for is so hackneyed. Also, just to throw it out there: Tamura Yukari #1 in cute voices that actually sound good :3 Also, also... www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDMRCNj3EuA Morning Musume's Tanaka Reina and Niigaki Risa singing Moonlight Densetsu. So there ya go XD

Morning Musume circa 2007-2010 had amazing vocal chops that strayed pretty far from the idol norm. Post 2011, while not as good, is honestly still pretty good compared to most other idol groups. But let's leave that for another thread I totally agree about Yui Horie, by the way! She's got one of my favourite voices in J-pop, not because it's particularly powerful or "technically" good, but because it's just so pleasant to listen to and definitely has a natural cute tone to it. But yes... to bring the topic back around to Sailor Moon, do we know if this is getting a dub or not? I'm really curious about how they'll handle that now that it's not the 90s

It might get a dub later... seeing as its going to be an entire remake of the anime (following the manga though!!!), but as of now its going to be in Japanese and streamed worldwide.
So i doubt it will be 200 episodes long.. unless they keep monsters of the day filler, -- which would be ok with me, because at this point when i rewatch Sailor Moon i need the monsters of the day for character development and to make each season feel distinct for time skips.

I'm so excited for this, I can't believe how many times it's been pushed back though. I'm nervous about the art style though. I hope it's very... modern classic? I really hope they keep a classic shoujo aesthetic. I can't see them going for this (imo) ugly moe-y style that's popular now because of Sailor Moon's audience.
I think a better proportioned, better budget, well though out classic look could be amazing!
I think it might still be a bit monster of the weekish, the director worked on PreCure and One Piece. It's kind of unfortunate, the best person for the job would be someone like Kunihiko Ikuhara (people have been saying he should direct it as a joke, because of Utena)... except he did direct the original Sailor Moon for R, S, and SuperS - but left due to lack of creative control!!!
I guess you can see why it's taken them so long, they've got to please *so* many people with this!!
