Not technically the right forum, but I thought it was better here than everyday discussion.
Who are your favourite Western singers? Or singers from Asia who aren't Japanese or Korean (as they get talked about a lot!).
I always like knowing what Western music Nana fans listen too, it tends to be right across the spectrum of music.

Mozart, My Little Pony and Capcom music. Yes, I know the 4 (Nana included) have nothing to do with one another and are completely different, but that's what I listen to
As I write this, I realize Capcom is Japanese, but it's not Jpop, so it counts under "Western/non-Jpop"

MANOWAR! Rejoice brothers and sisters! They released a new album less than a week ago and almost on my birthday! Though I'm with the guys who was like " wtf was that? " and are waiting for a CD version, but still =) As for others early Metallica and Rammstein are nice, Blind Guardian and Sabaton are nice all the way ^_^ As for something closer to pop... Hmm... I can tolerate some pop singers by not wanting to kill them with rusty axe in the name of great justice... But that's it ;D Are they still around?

I just lumped it all as Jpop/Kpop. I wanted to leave it open to other artists from the rest of Asia though (because we don't talk about them) hence why I didn't say "no Asian artists". And yup, it seems even though we all like Nana, everybody's taste is totally different for Western music.

There's no wonder since even our tastes for Nana's music differ pretty much ;D

I don't really have a favorite "favorite" artist. I usually like songs but don't really care about the artist^^;; Though, if I were to name a few:
Spice Girls and BSB - These two are like my ultimate girl/boy band of all time. To hell with being cheesy but I grew up listening to these two and I still like them XDD
Some others include the popular ones like Lifehouse, Linkin Park, Metallica, and The Script.

Mwahaha, Backstreet Boys. Not that I like to listen to them, but they are the absolute best to sing at karaoke. Like... karaoke is normally really boring as people just sing songs they like. Then I go up and sing some BSB and all of a sudden everyone starts having fun with things like Spice Girls, N Sync, Brittney Spears etc...
I guess part of it is that I'm normally a pretty quiet guy and they don't expect it when I show them my godly karaoke skills

Let's see...I grew up with Janet Jackson, and so I will say that I still listen to her occasionally. Haha. If I wanted to, I could listen to Lady Gaga, and I know I would enjoy her. I just haven't found the time to fit her into my listening time. But, primarily, since her untimely death I have been exposed to Whitney Houston. She has quickly become my favorite Western artist (and one of my favorite artists overall), and after a few listens of her songs I couldn't help but go out and buy every single one of her albums. I just wish I could have supported her while she was still alive. For that, I'm truly saddened.

Thanks to this very forum, I have now developed a love of Lana Del Rey. I don't care if she's fake or a liar or whatever because her music is flipping awesome. For a long time I've been a fan of Arcade Fire (I even bought physical copies of two of their albums). I also love the Clash, Metric, the Cardigans, Gorillaz, Garbage, and just recently I've been getting into Purity Ring! I guess I don't really have a favorite... more like a bunch of artists I really like!

More Lana love ♥ I like her image, I think it's an intentional persona created as a comment on pop culture. Another Metric fan too! I discovered their music last year (I think) and I loved it. I like Gorrilaz too. And noknuckles, I agree with you on the karaoke music. Britney, N'Sync... they're all on mine and my flatmates' pre-drinking playlists

Ok..From my childhood I prefered to listen foreign songs and most of them were 70's-80's pop-singers or even older (e.g. Frank Sinatra). There were some #1 singers for me before Nana: Sandra (she was in Arabesque trio, after began solo career), Tarja Turunen (solo&w/Nightwish. yes, in that order). There were singers on #2,#3 etc. places, for example ABBA, Tatu, Within Temptation, Rammstein..a lot to mention all of them. So I could enjoy all quality music, except electronic, techno, club rythmes etc. As I remember, one night I and my friends after some Clannad episodes found Lady Gaga's Bad Romance on youtube and watched it for a dozen times)) Bad romance was even as alarm for a while))
