Finally got around to watching JOURNEY. I watched the Sendai one because the setlist appealed to be just a tiny bit more.
It was pretty good, but not mind-blowing or anything. Most of it seemed like pretty standard fare for Nana, so I thought it was quite average. Of course, average for Nana is still extremely enjoyable, but it did feel a little stale, to be honest.
Favourites were definitely SCARLET KNIGHT, HIGH STEPPER, Strobe Cinema, and Albireo. Oh god Albireo <3 I also really really liked the interlude BGMs, the first one for SCARLET KNIGHT (which was reused in the credits, if I'm not mistaken?) was really epic, and the one used right before Toraware no Babel was so pretty! The videos themselves were pretty great too, though... if I'm being honest here the first one kind of built up the concert a bit too much :XD
Other performances I enjoyed were Toraware no Babel, Juujika no Spread, Junketsu Paradox, Heaven Knows, and JET PARK.
Honestly didn't care much for Pray as a finale song. I don't even really like that song - though it's a bit better live - but it just doesn't wow me for whatever reason, so the ending fell a bit flat.
Overall, I'm satisfied with the concert. I wasn't really expecting much and... didn't really get much, so that worked out XD It was still a Nana concert which meant it was a pleasure to watch and (especially) listen to, but it was a bit too "been here, done that".
Onto LIVE CASTLE next! ;D

I wonder, what so mindblowing can you expect from a pop concert hmm... Really, name some instances, I'm interested The only things I can recall from Nana concerts that can be named something like this were fountains during Zankou no Gaia at Diamond (that was really cool, I admit ) and projection at Castle, though it was like 10 times less epic on DVD. What else? Well, I've seen some blogs of Nana fans on the net, where they went like "OMG TEH BEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE!!!", "I ORGAZMED 10 TIMES WATCHING THE FIRST MINUTE OF THIS!!!!" and so on about pretty much anything, but that's a mental disorder in my book ;D Why no one likes Pray It has a nice rhythm! Very good for slashers ^_^

Mind-blowing is obviously on the hyperbolic side, but for instance, LIVE DIAMOND visually and LIVE GRACE musically gave me things I hadn't seen or heard so much of in a pop concert, so I know they're always going to stick out in my mind, and they won't fall into the "just another Nana concert" category.
I like when an artist makes an effort to make performances distinct and keep their tours fresh from year to year. If it's more of the same, and I've previously enjoyed their concerts anyway, then OK, cool, I know I'll be enjoying their future shows. But when they do push the envelope - even in really small ways - it just makes it a lot easier to get into the concert.
Of course, I love Nana so much they could literally film her on top of a crate performing on the streets or something and I'd still watch it and sing along and probably rewatch it a few times :XD But objectively speaking, her concerts just aren't very fresh from one to another.

So vague? I can definitely name couple of things from both that impressed me, but whole concerts... Well I already gave my opinion on the matter if I remember right... Anyway, I hate the tendencies of turning concerts into shows. Go to Broadway for those, musicians should play and singers should sing, that's it. So Nana standing atop of a crate will be not only acceptable, but much better and enjoyable for me ^_^ I personally want all Nana concerts look like Hibari 7 days actually On the other hand I'm not into pop that much so a bunch of half-drunk hairy guys on stage already makes a good concert for me ;D Btw, Nana performing on the streets will be very fresh actually, she should do it! Only need to change locations fast enough =) Yea, that's true (btw, my favorite part of concert DVDs are making offs and not the actual concerts, so for me it's enough if they just film her fooling around somewhere, singing is optional ). But for a different reason for me. The thing is, her singing is very persistent. Some can only dream about something like this, but in her case it's a disadvantage somehow. They are adding smth to melodies or even changing them fairly often, but you can count on the fingers the times she added or changed something about actual singing. It almost feels like she's somewhere at an audition or a contest, but it's her own concert and the songs written for her or even the ones she wrote herself - can't she stop treating them like some precious untouchable ideals? ;D I want to hear the difference in singing of the same songs at different concerts, but atm it mostly the track list that differs =\
