That Glorious Break performance was pretty solid.

this just a newspaper list for kohaku only, not the official announcement (they will announce at 8pm jst) according to fans on twitter, they are worried that Nana is not on the list and some think lovelive(muse) take over Nana's place (in a good way >.<) TM.R is also not inside (seem they took out both King and Queen anison out the list) but i still hopefully Nana will be inside and at the same time for lovelive too >v</ last year they already heartbroken all the lovelivers fans ^^;;;

There's 2 hours before official announcement, right? We'll see. I remember, that Mishima once said - if NHK don't put Nana in the list, there'll be live concert instead (eg Countdown 2015). Of course, appearance on NHK Kohaku is much better for artist, but hey, Nana x TMR coraba again? And 5 seconds of Exterminate/Superman/Glorious Break/Angel Blossom or Eden? I can't accept it in its entirety( I would agree for Shinai or Eternal Blaze x 10, 20 times, but I know that it's not her case

So Nana's 6 year Kouhaku streak comes to an end...! This really is sad. And the last two years of Nana x TMR felt like wasted opportunities. Sigh.

Yeah, that anniversary live-gift from NHK explains her absence at Kohaku.
Ok. I'm happy with that. 10 days before live, be ready, get your pens and penlights!

That sucks monkey balls. But at least no more TM Revolutions-little-helper kind of performances, especially like last year, where he was sparkly and glittery and pointy and she blended in with the background.

Their loss. She did fantastic in the ratings and is more popular than some of the "pop" acts they still let say (miwa, that Yuko girl that's new this year, Rebecca who?). But of course, the world would implode if they had TWO popular anison artists on...

REBECCA is a hugely popular 80s band that just reunited this summer after 25 years apart, they absolutely deserve to be on Kouhaku(and miwa is hugely popular digitally. She may sell less physically than Nana, but her brand is very much in at the moment.), no need to bash other acts over this...as for Nana not being in the line-up: it's very much possible that this was a joint decision or even a decision Nana's team made(too little time to prepare, contract issues, Kouhaku may have not had the impact they hoped on her career past the first year or two...). Kouhaku doesn't typically un-invite acts unless they crashed and burned popularity-wise - that's why there's plenty of acts who have been on 20 or more times. Even scandals usually aren't enough to make them un-invite someone after a few appearances - if someone leaves the "Kouhaku family", it's usually their choice. Prestige is also a lot more important than actual sales for being invited onto Kouhaku in the first place.

ehhh its confirm its not by Nana's choice to leave kohaku.... is NHK choose not to add Nana...=.=;;; www.mizukinana.jp/blog/2015/11/post-3111.htmlshe said it was not enough to compete, unfortunately this year..... and my friend think, when they add muse, then Nana no space to add in likely is they bias on Anisong....

I suspect a bias towards anisong as well. I remember Japanese netizens talked about Nana on Kouhaku as if she was filling a 'slot' reserved for anime singers, and if this year they found someone else to fill that slot (muse) then that might have cost Nana her appearance. Which, of course, is rubbish, but I suppose there's nothing to be done now.
One less reason to watch Kouhaku!

mirrorcle I didn't bash anyone. I own a physical copy of Miwa's album Delight and own digital copies of the rest. I'm strictly talking about the qualifications, not the quality of their music.

In that blog post Nana just said it has been decided she wouldn't attend. No word on who decided. It could be and likely was a mutual decision between Nana's team and the NHK for reasons we have no insight into. Kouhaku has a long history of contract disputes and other issues(underpaying their performers is a major one), but "dropping acts when their sales fall ever so slightly" and "filling a one anison act quota" aren't part of those. stranger I'm sorry, it sounded like you were gunning for them, especially with how you wrote about REBECCA. I'd absolutely disagree on their qualifications to appear. miwa in particular has a lot more mainstream appeal than Nana, who never quite managed to penetrate the kind of audience that watches Kouhaku, and is one of Japan's biggest sellers. REBECCA on the other hand is an incredibly respected veteran act of the kind that the show is famous for.
