I feel like discs of any kind are already becoming obsolete (I definitely haven't used a CD/DVD for 'storage' in a veeeery long time), but yeah, as distressing as it is, I suppose it's natural that any physical apparatus that we use to access digital data is bound to eventually decay in some way or another! The only solution is to completely digitize everything and beam the data straight into our minds  ... But then, human bodies also decay, so can there ever truly be permanence? This got weirdly philosophical. I'll see myself out. |
