true about the equipment - i usually just get semi high quality headphones, although i do have super expensive 500$ ones (dont judge me! my money haha) that i use occassionally lol - i hate speakers
piccolo and violin are SOOO different though, for real.
Piccolo is most often(depending on the score) the highest sound you will hear in a band/orchestra. In the hand of an experienced player(and the right kind of piccolo - 100%wooden, maybe cylindrically-bore) its sound is very piercing, but not shrill, and its definitely noticable, thats why in a band of 50+ people, theres 9/10 times only 1 of them - they dont have to be playing super super loud to be heard. Violins = either small number or large number of them. They have an entire different sound than a piccolo, and different effect, so yea.. if you changed the instrument playing the piccolo part to a slew of violins, then it would sound much more mellow, and unless transposed down an octave at least, it would be very out of tune, and unpleasant to the ears - violins dont sound good out of tune(see graces Phantom Minds opening) and it might make the sound stand out more as a dominant force of the score, rather than auxillery
I know that was just an example, but it was wrong and i had to correct it : P forgive me lol

I know I'm sorta just giving my opinion on the topic even though you guys have sort of taken it into a very in-depth musical direction (which I wish I was educated enough to join in on), but in regards to Mika, I actually am a DaisyxDaisy fan. Ahaha. I know "Brave Your Truth" was mentioned earlier, but if you do listen to Mika's voice you can hear a lot of Nana within it. I don't know, maybe it's just me liking that anime sound, but Mika's music does actually appeal to me. Of course it isn't as diverse as Nana's music, and that may just be because Nana's really transcended from anison singer/seiyuu to a more mainstream artist, and there's more room for her to explore different styles because she doesn't have to try to appeal to one specific fan base anymore; whereas Mika, just starting out and not nearly as popular as her sister, banks on anime-tie ins for her major success. Her debut album was excellent though, and I really do hope that she continues to make releases. Heck, maybe one day she'll be invited to Anisama and then we'll all get that duet we want. Ahaha. It certainly would be something.

I was a fan of Daisy x Daisy before i knew of Nana XD Daisy barely releases 2 singles a year, but they have sort of a different feel than Nana's to me - i would never tell that they are sisters o.o

Nana mentioned her sister at another occasion. For the anime Basilisk, they did interviews with the voice actors and called these shows Basidisc. There were 12 episodes in total. The first as well as the last two episodes featured Nana. In the last episodes she mentioned how she borrowed money for a dress, around the time of the release of Omoi, from her sister who had a better paid side job, and that Nana didn't made any money from her first single.
Also, some of the older Nana Magazines have Mika Kondo listed as Fanclub staff and/or illustrator for artwork. Even some of her earlier live DVD releases have Mika Kondo listed for these things.

Her sister was also credited as chorus singer ocassionally, at least in the Dream Skipper album. It looks like she was quite involved in the early years.

^ I never knew that! I'll have to listen to some older songs and see what I can hear. I wonder if Nana would ever have her do back-up during a concert

Now, this is great news, but doesn't that album cover look a bit familiar, pearhaps? Or am I just going bananas? Orange ya glad I'm making these awful puns? Aren't they just grape? GET MY DRIFT?
