I was wandering around youtube today and found couple of her videos accidentally. Then a thought crossed my mind - how many people actually knows that Nana has a sister? ;D Sooo... She does =) Her name is Kondo Mika and she goes as DaisyxDaisy Mika or just DaisyxDaisy. Here's her offsite. The rest is Google's work Just one vid... Find 10 differences lol ;D Her scene image is different though.

I could have sworn we had a thread about her already, and I almost thought I was losing it before I realized that it was probably on the last forum xD
She's definitely a cutie, and she seems to be quite talented as well.

They should duet together, it would be pretty cool.
Mika isn't as good as her sister, but she's still talented so it would be cool.

yea i made a thread about her earlier i kind of like some of the very FEW songs she has... i think it was in Shin Ai, but someone said there was like some unsaid rule about not mentioning or advertising a relative at a different record company, so thats probably why Nana doesn't talk about her like ever... or maybe they just really arent close, cause she doesn't mention her much even in the book in the parts about her sad childhood... not sure, but yea, they have similar smiles, similar ... "looks/pose stances" if you know what i mean.. Like im sure Mika could give a pretty good nana-eye face (like in junketsu paradox vid) also, she can sing live, so thats good to know apparently she had some enka training as well, but she stopped taking that pretty early, because it just wasn't her thing.. picture!! www.flickr.com/photos/ithappens/6087474574/ couldnt get the /img thing to work sry.. Oh and she doesnt sound like nana at all (singing wise imo, and she uses her vibrato with much more discretion haha xD) zomg im sorry i keep adding stuff, she also voices the Vocaloid Ring Suzune (3rd generation of vocaloids) if any1 here doesnt severely hate vocaloids haha

At all? I wouldn't be so categorical. Their speaking voices are almost the same as well as timber of a voice. Plus Nana can sound pretty different So even if not Mika, but Nana surely can sing exactly like her. Thus their duet may won't be that entertaining singing wise, but that surely will be fun to watch especially if they'll dress the same %) Anyway, anyone knows anything about their relationship? Surely we won't see them together in any official video or smth, but some other channels? Do they at least attend each other's birthday parties? It would be strange if they do not... Well, Mika has the reasons to hate Nana ;D

They're probably... just like sisters. I imagine they see each other, but like it's been said, as they're on different labels Nana can't really talk about her.
Isn't Mika married? Or at least engaged, I'm sure someone mentioned something like that on the old board.

Your right - they do have similar timber in their speaking voices, however alot of people don't sing how they talk, i think from the like... 5 songs ive heard by Mika, her singing voice is alot more lyrical and gentle typically, where as nana... partly due to her talent with voice acting, has many different vocal characteristics which she can draw inspiration from... just look at Discotheque vs Romancer's Neo, both are pop songs (the 2nd one being less generic and a little rock-y) in discotheque she hits all the notes in a high anime'd voice, and in romancer's neo she hits the medium range notes using a low voice,(which is super sexy btw <3 love that song!) i suppose nana could probably sing like mika, so there goes that whole duet thing although id still love to see it!! also idk about that engagement thing I always have such long posts lol - www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xm4lpatRGD0 my favorite song by Mika... although i cant say ive listened to much.. the chorus is just so light i love it^^ + the japanese is so simple i can understand it w.o having to look up translations!! and my 2nd fav. www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2DGaVyGVMA its very contradictory to that "light" voice i said she has, i suppose her voice can fit multiple "genres" as well.^^ oh well! i hope she gets big some day

Discotheque doesn't stand out that much live though - she sings it lower and I like it that way more Anyway we don't question Nana's variety here =) Mentioned Brave Your Truth can easily be Nana's song. Plus most of Mika's songs are anime related and well... I mean, many Nana's songs are anime related too, but they still song like "ordinary" songs just placed into anime, while most "anime" songs sound different - they are simple and mmm "plain"? Dono how to express it =) Nana has some of those as well on various character song cds. Nana surely doesn't have that advantage ;D

I know what you mean about the "anime" music sound. I think it's a turn off in a lot of her older music, but when she plays them live now they get vastly improved.
I think Nana still has an anime sound, but it's not the generic sound that Mika has. Nana is able to combine it with other genres well. The fact she had an orchestra concert says a lot, and how you can hear real instruments in her music. That's absent in a lot of anime music.
I wonder if Nana helped Mika get into the industry?

It sure does. For me is says that her music lacks just as much as I thought =) Really, can you honestly say that you hear that much of a difference from her usual lives? I sure can't... And almost each time you can see a conductor he's just fooling around since so easy things just don't require any conducting - just play the notes and that's it. To make it even worse they played Bolero to show how REAL orchestra music should sound Sure, Nana's music wasn't written for an orchestra so it can't use its full potential, but still it doesn't change the fact it was mostly show off ;D Still Live Grace has very nice overall sound and I like watching it, but orchestra has nothing to do with it I seriously doubt it. First of all they are on different labels - how could that happen in case of Nana's help? And I really don't have an impression that Nana has much of a weight in such organizational things...

I've always wondered why Nana doesn't talk about her at all. I really can't recall any instance where she would actually say something about her sister. Even if she couldn't because they are under a different record company, I would expect Nana to say something about her sister at least in her autobiography. However, if memory doesn't fail me, she only mentioned her once - in the part about her father's funeral - without saying anything specific.
I come across Mika's picture every now and then on Kurosaki Maon's blog. They seem to be quite close friends. You can easily tell that Nana and Mika are relatives. Those front teeth are giving them away and even their face outlines are similar.

Maybe i say this as a musician, and maybe im misreading that post haksaw, but i could DEFINITELY tell the diference from her lives (mostly, some songs were just.. there to be normal, like First Calendar wth?). The different arrangement of instruments added ALOT of over-all variety, but it all depends on the listener's ears. When some people listen to a song, they hear it all for the most part, but they focus on the voice, maybe lead melody instrument and bass, and thats all they hear. There's usually SO much more to it, that when i first heard Live Grace~Orchestra~ i practically fainted at all the things i hadn't heard before. I think it made alot of Nana fans reconsider some of her less famous songs that were sung at that concert, although i think they could've done more, they had to keep recent songs for promotion and other obvious reasons. Like, Thermidor, Undercover - those 2 were majorly changed by the orchestra, although thermidor was mostly the sax, i heard plenty of things, like the piccolo in the background, it was amazing to me (i play the piccolo as well as flute and violin). Basically, for me, Live Grace ~ Orchestra ~ was the best time i've ever had watching one of nana's lives the first time. (Not that it was the best concert, but the 1st impression was the highest caliber). And finally, the conductor wasn't ALWAYS messing around lol, (at times i couldnt find his connection to the beat of the song at all, provided i dont know the sheet music or what key its in or tempo, etc etc.) i mean, her songs arent written to be orchestral pieces, but some of them have very hard melodies, ( at least for the violin, the rest is pretty .. yea.) like those high-notes for violin in Phantom Minds, those are crazy high, and it was soo out of tune it hurt my ears at first, but i totally understand lol. The thing about composing music is that for me, sometimes composer's that compose entire score's for every instrument don't always consider the technical side of every instrument, just the sound they hope to create with them. i cant explain it any more than that. anyway back to topic, MiKA's sound is very anime like. It makes me wonder if she's also an Otaku like Nana is lol, *picturing them sneakingly watching anime as children, but then im reminded nana went to tokyo and didn't live with them always* Sigh.. if only!! i would really like to know what their relationship status is, if only for my own personal needs! haksawYou're right about that X_X trying to make way of songs like Zettou: Ame no Habakiri (although she didn't write that one) or maybe really descriptive ones like Junketsu Paradox were a challenge, and on the first one i gave up and looked for a translation in under a day lol Oh and Finally, you're right about Discotheque, that's also why I like it better live, because she sings it with a lower voice.

Well of course it added variety, it just seems our definitions of what is a lot differ ^^ If you add let's say piccolo to a violin playing the same notes - it changes absolutely nothing. Nether rhythm nor even melody is changing. That's not what I call difference. Rearrangement of Super Generation for a harp sounds different. Some songs at acoustic corners when they sometimes skip some parts basically making new melody sound different. But playing the same thing with more instruments just adds variety but doesn't bring difference. In orchestral music every instrument plays it's part, bringing something original, but when orchestra plays something written for couple guitars and a violin every instrument will either have to take part of guitar or violin fundamentally changing nothing or you just rewrite the whole thing using every instrument you now have at you disposal to make it sound how it should. Obviously no one will bother with the latter =) As you can see from my point of view orchestra just can't bring a lot of difference without fully remaking of the song. Obviously even if you can make this for 1-2 songs, you can't do this for a whole concert. So I'm pretty skeptical about any concerts of pop singers with an orchestra - that's just can't sound as good as opera, while you surely expecting something like that. If you are not... Well i do Oh btw it depends not only on ears but on equipment as well... I usually use headphones, but I decided to watch Castle with my speakers - I couldn't even hear her usual headset garbage sound ...
