Cool, I will check out Tales of the Abyss once I'm done with Persona 4.

I definitely recommend it. I'm still missing it so much D: sevenpetals - Yeah, I definitely wasn't expecting DotNW to be anywhere near as good as ToS, but I've been playing it for a while now and I actually really really like it. I'm kind of surprised at how much I enjoy it, actually :XD The battles and monster catching is surprisingly addictive, as well as all the sidequests to do. The characters are a little on the meh side (especially after Abyss), but they're likeable and some of the skits are downright hilarious. And I keep having little fangasms whenever an old character comes back, and so far they've done a great job with those. I was half expecting the old cast to be butchered, but I loved Colette's appearance (and her chemistry with the group) and Zelos' as well. I'm only at the part where you meet Raine, who I'm tentative about (since she was one of my all time favourite characters from ToS), but everything else has been done well so far. Also I feel totally spoiled by all the voice-acted skits! It makes me wish they had voiced all of the ToS/TotA ones too

Playing Shin Megami Tensei Digital Devil Saga 2.
How to sum up this series...wow uhm... you eat people. No joke.
The plot, characters and general world that's been created are all phenomenal. The game play is rather grind based (it's not an RPG for beginners), but the battle system is good, requires some tactics and can be used in your favour, but so quickly turn against you - I like it. MUCH better game play than the Persona games I've played, for sure.
The plot just keeps blowing me away. I wanted to do all the side quests on 1 first (you gets extras in 2), but I HAD to know what happened next, and now I'm hooked. Glad I bought them both together, I couldn't have waited for the next one to arrive - I finished the first one and put the second one on straight away!!
Seems the game was made to make the series more accessible, but I think Persona is much better to start with because of it's anime style (the gameplay is dead tedious if you hate RPGs/dialogue though). In DDS YOU EAT PEOPLE, how is that accessible?!?!!

Eating people... Well at least they get originality points! XD I mean it's weird but the shock factor might draw people in, I myself am intrigued now...

I want my World of Warcraft back! Give me the good old days when you had to earn a tier of raid gear before being able to get into a raid of a higher tier! WoW in BC was my life! For the Horde! Wooo! XD
And oh gosh, I've been playing so much Pokemon lately. After beating Pokemon White I decided to go back and play my gen 4 games in my quest to catch them all (in gen 4). I'm 10 away now, with all of them being legendary Pokemon (most event-exclusive) and the elusive...Kecleon! So yeah, most of my time has been spent on SoulSilver and Platinum. I feel quite accomplished, seeing as I was 30 away from catching them all on my Diamond version before it suddenly crashed four years ago. So sad...

Ahhh, I still have to play Black & White. So behind D: I'm always impressed when people actually do catch 'em all, it's one thing I can never bring myself to do :XD
I just beat Secret of Mana and Dissidia, so I picked up FF8 again (just finished Disc 2!) and Skies of Arcadia again. I've still got Tales of Symphonia 2 to finish, though I'm on Chapter 6. Still playing Breath of Fire 1 as well, which I'm kind of nearing the end of.
Oh, and I found Final Fantasy Tactics A2 for 10 dollars on eBay, shipping included, and couldn't resist grabbing it. It was actually a really awesome decision, I haven't been able to put it down since I got it! I've already played about 50-ish hours on it, and I've only had it for a couple of weeks. Soooo addictive, haha.

I'm about halfway through SMT DDS and I must say it is keeping me intrigued. I'm really enjoying the dungeons and mantra skill system

Finished FF8! Only 3 more in the main series to complete. It's surreal :XD
Currently giving my soul to Rune Factory Frontier, though. <3

Hm...I'm currently in the middle of a ton of games, or that's what it feels like. I started Earthbound and restarted Breath of Fire 1 recently, and have been slowly making progress in Tales of Symphonia and Final Fantasy Tactics for the PS1. I finally got a 3DS though, so I should hopefully finally be a bit more consistent with playing the DS games I've put aside for awhile. Final Fantasy IV DS, be prepared. *__* (Though I should probably be telling myself that, the game is so much harder than the SNES and GBA versions...)

^ BoF is a great series So many nostalgia, too. I'm currently playing ToS: Dawn of the New World, which I'm very close to finishing, finally. Also started up Tales of Phantasia, which I've really been enjoying. Still obsessing over Rune Factory Frontier, still working away at finishing Breath of Fire III and FF: Tactics A2.

Funny, since the last post was FF related.
I just finished FFXV. FINALLY! I bought it a few weeks ago and sunk about 80 hours into it.
My immediate thoughts for the game are the following: I initially was hesitant to buy the game because I was worried I wouldn't be too captivated by the characters, being such a dude-heavy installment (all four characters being male). I was (mostly) proved wrong. All four characters were likable enough and the crew generally had good chemistry.
What I wanted to comment most about was the character of Lunafreya. I have particularly strong positive and negative feelings to express. I found Lunafreya immediately captivating and one of the characters with the most potential. She had all the characteristics I want in a heroine: high moral integrity, unwavering devotion to the people, strong will, elegant and inspirational. She was also strikingly beautiful. Absolutely memorable. Unfortunately, she suffers the same fate as most characters in this game...even though I enjoyed her so much, the game did utilize her to her full potential. She's mostly used as a plot device, and that's SUCH a shame. I think that the designers of this FF wanted to avoid the complaints of being too linear like past installments. The result is an open world with TONS of side missions, but all of these things are just that...just side missions. None of them are very critical towards the main plot/characters of the game aside from those in the party. And yes, by doing this, they also avoid being extremely convoluted like some past installments. I find this a mostly welcome change, but I just wish there were most first-hand experience with these important characters. Cindy somehow seemed more important than Lunafreya, even though this obviously is not true...
By the way, the villain barely felt like a villain. She/he makes for a good character, just not villain, in my eyes. She/he never seemed very threatening and you hardly saw him/her in action...
For the gameplay, it was a HUGE move in the right direction, generally. Everything was fast paced. There were a lot of nuances when it came to the combat. Lots of customization/weapons to choose from. The enemies themselves were OK. Dungeons weren't too long, but each had a distinct style and could be very challenging.
Overall, I definitely enjoyed the game.
One random side note that made me LOL. Noctis was supposedly the king-to-be, but his speech pattern, in comparison to Lunafreya and others with high status, was rather childish. There was an exchange that went like this and made me laugh (towards the end of the game): Important High Status Person: "Blessed by the Gods, may the light of the chosen one shine upon thy land. Please save us, chosen king." Noctus: "Ya ok." Probably done on purpose, but it was pretty funny to me!
